Atlanta weather is often unpredictable and this year we have had a milder than normal winter. But – it can still drop below freezing at any given time – usually up until mid April. (Who remembers the Blizzard of the Century – 12” of snow in March of 1993?) It’s not too early, however, to schedule your Spring Sprinkler Tune Up.
Remember, it is always best to hire a qualified professional when performing tasks like your Spring Tune Up. Sprinkalawn technicians are experts in proper sprinkler system layout. Their skills will ensure a water-efficient system and a season of trouble-free operation.
What does a Spring Tune Up include?
We turn your system on. This may sound fairly straightforward, but turning your system on properly is important to keep from blowing out the lines – literally! A system that has been shut down for the winter must release the air buildup that can happen over the winter months. If not turned on properly – rapidly releasing the water can cause the lines to fill with increased PSI, possibly blowing out a connection. Water must be released slowly to avoid this problem.
Valves and sprinkler heads are a good place for leaks to happen. Each sprinkler station should be checked for leaks.
We check all rotators to make sure they are operating properly –we want to minimize the water hitting the street!
Check the rain sensor connections. Make sure the rain sensor is located where it can actually pick up rainfall amounts. A rain sensor has many benefits not the least of which saves you money on your water bill!
