Many homeowners want a beautiful lawn but worry about maintenance and expense. Simply watering the lawn and garden can eat into your free time and add a hefty chunk to the water bill. So in the long run, is it more economical and efficient to install a sprinkler system, or to continue watering yourself moving those hoses every couple of hours? How hard is it to put systems in place? All great questions and more answered here….
Q. Does a sprinkler system really save me time?
A. Yes! Your new system will do all the watering for you – even when you aren’t home! You won’t have to spend another minute of your valuable free time watching the hose run and forgetting to move it every 30 minutes.
Q. Will an automatic sprinkler system use more water than I am currently using?
A. No. An automatic sprinkler system may actually save water. A well-designed, efficient irrigation system applies exactly the amount of water needed by your landscape. You will never again have to worry about wasting water if you forgot to turn it off. Plus, with a Rain Bird rain shut off sensor your system will know when it is raining and simply turn itself off when water is not needed.
Q. Will an automatic sprinkler system water as well as I do when I water by hand?
A. An automatic sprinkler system will do a more efficient job because it will be designed based on your landscape’s diverse watering needs. It can also use specific products designed to water grass, shrubs, trees or flowers. Also, it won’t get tired of staying out in the sun and go inside for iced tea like the hand waterer will.
Q. I love DIY projects! I’ll bet I can install my own automatic sprinkler system!
A. Yes, theoretically you can install your own automatic sprinkler system. Of course, theoretically you could repave your own driveway or build your own car. But do you really want to do that yourself? At Sprinkalawn, we have the equipment and knowledge to install your system correctly, save you money by utilizing the correct product for the correct location and provide a warranty on the service and equipment! In addition, there are other items to consider such as:
Tools. In addition to the basics tools, you will need a trencher or vibratory plow and all the pipe and correct fittings. If you are going across your driveway, you will need equipment to go under your driveway and sidewalk. Do you really have or need these type of tools in your personal inventory?
Time. Depending on the size of your property, installing a system could take more than just a few days to complete. Lack of experience and manpower could extend the time estimate further, not to mention running into unforeseen problems such as stubborn tree roots and buried cables. With Sprinkalawn the only time it will take is to convince your spouse a sprinkler system is a good idea.
A plan. Sprinkalawn will design your system based on YOUR landscape and your landscape needs. Shade, sun, clay, dirt, trees or lawn – all comes into play when designing your system.
Codes. Sprinkalawn knows the code requirements and makes sure your system is up to your county codes.
Q. Will I have difficulty operating my sprinkler system?
A. Sprinkalawn only uses the best RainBird systems which has a very user-friendly interface. We will train you on use of the panel and set it to a watering schedule that makes sense for your system. Rain Bird offers a wide selection of the most advanced sprinkler timers and controllers that can be customized to meet your individual watering needs, while being simple to program and adjust. The newest smart controllers even adjust themselves automatically based on changing weather, rainfall and temperature! Relax – we’ve got you covered.
Q. How do I know which type of sprinkler system will work best for my home?
Sprinkalawn is knowledgeable about the factors that go into the right system for you. Factors such as where the water is coming from and the water pressure, what is planted in your yard, type of grass, shade or sun, is all taken into consideration when planning your system.
Q. How long will the process take?
This depends upon your schedule and ours. How quickly can we meet to discuss the project and the functions of the system. Once we are hired and a date set for the installation, we can typically install a system in just a couple of days.
